Hi, I’m David
I offer compassionate and non-directive person-centered therapy, empowering you to explore your true self in a safe and accepting environment. Life can be challenging, and counselling can provide the space to work through emotions, past experiences, and unhelpful patterns. I am here to support you on your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
What is Person-Centered Counselling?
Person-Centered Counselling is a non-directive form of talk therapy that focuses on the individual’s ability to find their own solutions and achieve personal growth. This approach is grounded in the belief that every person has an inherent capacity for self-awareness, self- healing, and self-actualization when given the right conditions.
Unlike some therapeutic models where the counselling takes on the role of an expert or guide, in person-centered counselling, the client is seen as the expert in their own life. The counsellor’s role is to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where the client can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences freely.
Core Conditions of Person-Centered Counselling:
Empathy:
The counsellor strives to deeply understand the client’s perspective and feelings, providing a sense of being truly heard and accepted.
Unconditional Positive Regard:
The counsellor offers genuine, non-judgmental support, accepting the client for who they are without conditions or criticism.
Congruence:
The counsellor is authentic and transparent, fostering a trusting relationship where clients feel comfortable being open and honest.
